Therapist at Glen Cove Hospital Recognized for Brain Injury Work

Merav deGuzman was recognized for her exemplary service to the hospital's brain injury support group.

A therapist at Glen Cove hospital was the recipient of an award for brain injury work.

Merav deGuzman, CBIS, is the supervisor of recreational therapy at Glen Cove Hospital where she founded a support group structure that benefits the hospital’s current brain injury inpatient population as well as people who have returned from the community seeking services.

Brain Injury Association of New York State awarded deGuzman the Frank Pierce Chapter Champion Award for her “exemplary service to the association’s local chapters and support group.”

Her outreach program involves an annual brain injury awareness event that assesses the needs of hospital patients. There are also fundraising efforts that go directly toward the Brain Injury Association chapters.
