Veterans Honored in Musical Tribute
Free concert to be presented by the Northwinds Symphonic Band

On Sunday, November 20, 2022, 3 pm at the Wunsch Arts Center, The Northwinds Symphonic Band will present an afternoon of inspirational music entitled American Salute - A Tribute to Our Veterans. Admission is free.
Under the direction of Helen P. Bauer, conductor, and Brandon Bromsey, associate conductor, the band will play selections that honor the sacrifice, dedication and patriotism of our Armed Forces.
The program will feature the world premiere of Long Island composer Carl Strommen’s Honor the Fallen with the Glen Cove High School Select Chorale and Mixed Chorus, directed by Edward P. Norris.
“We are proud that Northwinds has been chosen to present the world premiere of composer Carl Strommen’s Honor the Fallen and thankful to the Veterans Council of Glen Cove for sponsoring this concert,” said Northwinds conductors Helen Bauer and Brandon Bromsey.
In other concert highlights, the band will be joined by two powerful vocalists; Soprano Kristina Shafranski who will sing Song to the Moon from Dvorák’s opera Rusalka, and Contralto Julianna Willson who will sing You Raise Me Up.
Other programmed pieces will be music by American composers Morton Gould, John Philip Sousa, and Claude T. Smith, as well as works that celebrate America’s great military history.
