Glen Cove Junior Baseball and Softball leagues celebrated the start of the 2011 season with Saturday's opening day parade and games.

The opening Day celebrations started with a parade of teams through downtown Glen Cove and ended at a packed-out and newly renovated .
Mayor Ralph Suozzi threw the ceremonial first pitch for the boys and City Councilwoman Delia DeRiggi-Whitton threw out the first pitch for the girls.

"This is a great day every year in glen cove," said Suozzi. "It’s beautiful out today and a great day to play ball. We did a total rehabilitation of our fields here, the first time in 62 years. It’s for the kids, for the community and for the families."
Little leaguers wasted no time jumping into the game of baseball and softball after the opening day ceremonies.

The stadium was recently renovated this winter and upgraded with new lights, seats, grass and PA system.
