Our Spring Open House is the most in-depth way for your family to get to know our BASIS Independent Brooklyn community.
Please join us in person at our Open House for Gr. 3-12 on our Upper School campus on Saturday, April 25. <a href="https://basisindependent.com/schools/ny/brooklyn/admissions/visit-our-school/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Click here to register!</a> General Open House Structure: Doors will open at 9:40 AM, and the event will last until 12:00 p.m. ET. We welcome you to register and attend even if you cannot stay for the entire event. Students are encouraged to join us as well.
We will begin with an Introduction and an Open House Overview. During our parent panel, you can hear from current BASIS Independent Brooklyn families. Families will also be able to tour the campus while visiting classrooms.

GRADES 3-12: Saturday, September 27 at 10:00 AM
The Primary Program: Grades 3-5 Visit our Learning Expert and Subject Expect Teachers to learn about our unique two-teacher model (for grades 3 &amp; 4). From math and science to humanities, Mandarin, music, and more, find out how we support students in developing study skills and spark a lifelong love of learning. You will also have the chance to learn about how these bridge years encourage autonomy, creativity, and confidence to help prepare your student for Middle School. The Middle School Program: Grades 6-8 In the Middle School Program, we focus on developing the academic, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills needed for success in the high school years. Hear from our Subject Expert Teachers about how they inspire excellence inside and outside the classroom. Plus, learn about our many athletic and academic competition teams, clubs, international trips, and more. The High School Program: Grades 9-12 Educating tomorrow’s great innovators, pioneers, and leaders requires a well-rounded curriculum – one with breadth and depth across academic disciplines. Meet students, faculty, and administrators as you and your child learn about high school at BASIS Independent Brooklyn, including our unique Senior Year program.

Our Upper School Open House will conclude with a Q&amp;A panel consisting of BASIS Independent Brooklyn parents, students, and school leadership.

Brooklyn Conservatory of Music

The OMNI Ensemble is pleased to announce the conclusion of its 43rd season at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music on Saturday evening, May 2, 2026 at 8:00 pm. Music Director/Flutist David Wechsler will host an evening of woodwind quintet and piano music. Compositions are Karel Husa’s Serenade for woodwind quintet and piano, Valerie Coleman’s Afro Cuban Concerto for wind quintet, Chen Yi’s Woodwind Quintet, and David Wechsler’s Divertimento
for Wind Quintet and Piano. Assisting musicians are Elizabeth Kieronski - oboe, Jeffrey Adler - clarinet, Atsuko Sato – bassoon, Eric David - horn, and Sylvia Kahan, piano. 
Continuing as the chamber music group in residence at the Brooklyn Conservatory, The OMNI Ensemble will continue to perform concerts of enormous variety all designed to provide their audience with a musical diversity not ordinarily encountered by one chamber music group. Throughout the season they perform in the recital hall at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. 

Tickets at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music are $25.00, $15.00 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available in advance on the OMNI Ensemble website or at the door prior to the performance.

The OMNI Ensemble is a chamber music created to perform programs of enormous variety, with music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century, including Western classical music, jazz, and electronic and improvised music, all designed to provide their audience with a musical experience not ordinarily encountered in a single music event. Since its inception in 1983 the group has featured many guest artists including multi instrumentalist/composer David Amram, performance artist John Kelley, Singer Erika Banks, Kumongo player Jin Hi Kim, Saxophonist Roy Nathanson, Mezzo Sopranos Catherine Ciesinski and Charlotte Hellekant, Harpsichordists Gerald Ranck and Rebecca Pechefsky, and keyboardist Marco Benevento. The group has commissioned works by David Lang, Lee Hyla, Allen Shearson, &amp; Michael Bushnell, and performed new pieces by Jim Lahti, Eric Klein, and David Wechsler.

Atlantic Avenue (Fourth Avenue to the Waterfront)

Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk returns to Brooklyn May 9-17, 2026. This free, self-guided 1.5 mile event features over 150 emerging and established artists exhibiting in 70+ local shops, galleries, salons, restaurants, and businesses from Fourth Avenue to the Waterfront.
Stroll through Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and Boerum Hill while exploring artwork across a range of mediums, including painting, photography, mixed media, and drawings. The event is open to all ages and will be held rain or shine.
