On August 8, 2012 I had the pleasure of speaking at a meeting which was hosted by the Great Neck Synagogue Men's Club. Much of the discussion focused on Middle East policy and the survival of the State of Israel. I addressed the full spectrum of threats from Iran and Syria to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. My opinions seemed very much in sync with the audience and I made it clear that a Congressman Stephen Labate would never turn his back on Israel, nor support rogue regimes or radical left wing groups such as Occupy Wall Street. As an Iraq Veteran and an Army Officer with 24 years of service, I have a different view of national security issues than career politicians like my opponent.
The audience was well informed and a vigorous question and answer session ensued. I drew a stark comparison between my views and those of my opponent on domestic and foreign policy issues. My message was well received and those in attendance expressed their satisfaction that, unlike most of those who strive for elected office, I didn’t dodge the tough questions.
I very much appreciated the opportunity to speak to the Jewish community of Great Neck and look forward to having many more opportunities in the future.
