Hello Great Neck Patch! The Town of North Hempstead and the North Hempstead Housing Authorty has closed a 50 year old park that was used by about 250 children and their families. This is a very small parcel of land about 1.5 acres and the housing complex that was planned to be built was rejected by the community and then the plans withdrawn by the housing authority.
Maybe just for spite the NHHA put up a fence and has closed off the park. This happened almost two years ago and as we are in the middle of another summer the park remains closed and the childred have to play in a parking lot.
We have started a petition to ask the ToNH and the North Hempstead Housing Authority to reopen the park. Please help by signing an online petition that will be given to Supv. Jon Kaiman at the July 31st Town board meeting.
