GREAT NECK, NY — The Shireinu Choir of Long Island, under the direction of Deborah Tartell, is kicking off its milestone 10th season with a celebration that brings together music, community, family and giving back. The choir will host a one-mile Charity Walk on Sunday, November 1, in Great Neck Plaza, inviting children and adults of all ages to walk with family and friends while supporting the choir and as well as the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County.
The Charity Walk will launch this year-long celebration in a fun and meaningful way. Participants will stroll approximately one mile through Great Neck Plaza, enjoying the camaraderie of fellow walkers while showing their support for Shireinu. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County, reflecting the choir's longstanding commitment to giving back to the community.
For a decade, Shireinu has brought people together through the power of Jewish choral music. What began as a small community choir has grown into one of the largest mixed-voice Jewish choirs in the New York area, with nearly 90 singers ranging in age from 25 to 96. The choir's 10th season will feature concerts, educational programs, special performances and community events celebrating Jewish culture and the connections created through music.
“We are thrilled to begin our 10th season with an event that is about so much more than fundraising,” states Lori Freudman, event coordinator. “It’s an opportunity for our members, their families, friends and the entire community to come together, celebrate Shireinu, and support an organization whose mission of remembrance and education is so important.”
Adding to the excitement, supporters can purchase a personalized or sponsored sign for $180, which will be displayed along the walk route. It’s a great way for businesses, families and friends to show their support while helping Shireinu launch its 10th season in a big way.
The choir is also grateful to KIND Bars for supporting the event. In addition, 16 Handles, 1005 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington, NY, will donate a portion of its sales on Tuesday, November 4, to benefit the choir.
