Cops: Man Threatened to Blow Up Third Precinct in Williston Park

The Staten Island man made threats on Wednesday was arrested on Saturday, officials said.

A Staten Island man called Nassau County Police’s Third Precinct in Williston Park, and threatened to kill everyone inside it with a bomb Wednesday afternoon, officials said on Saturday.

Nassau Police say John Hardy, 52, called the Third Precinct at 214 Hillside Avenue at 2:49 p.m., claiming to be a terrorist. He threatened to kill everyone by placing a bomb in the precinct, police said.

A short time later, Hardy called the Nassau County Police Department Communication Emergency Call Center and stated he had left a bag containing dynamite inside the doorway of the Third Precinct, police said. The building was searched, but police found no explosives.

Third Squad detectives and Bureau of Special Operations police officers located and arrested Hardy on Saturday in Staten Island.

Hardy is charged with making a terroristic threat and second-degree aggravated harassment, police said.

Hardy is to be arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
