The
Village of Great Neck Plaza announces the sizzling Latin sextet, Mambo Loco,
will be performing on Tues., June 17 at
Firefighters’ Park (Jon’s Park). Mambo Loco returns to the concert lineup with
a setlist that is sure to have concert-goers out of their chairs and up on
their feet dancing to the pulsating tempo and beats of their Latin salsa music.
Mayor Celender has had this concert date circled ever since the summer concert
lineup was revealed. Stated Mayor Celender, “We are so glad to have Mambo Loco returning to the
Village once again. Last year, inclement weather forced Mambo Loco inside, yet
they still rocked the house. This year, we are hoping for better weather so
Mambo Loco can be outside and let their lively and vivacious music fill the
Plaza evening air.”
Based in Long Island,
Mambo Loco brings you the flavor of Havana, Cuba, where the music is hot. Mambo Loco is a six member Latin swing band with
strings. Their sizzling drumming and
versatile talents on the trombone, violin, percussions, piano, and bass will
light up the night. They have performed
individually with many of the best Latin groups in the New York area, such as,
Bad Street Boys, Charlie Rodriguez, Johnny Pacheco, Roberto Torres and Celia
Cruz, as well as Orquesta Mulenze and Manny Oquendo y Conjunto Libre.
In the case of inclement weather,
the concert performance will be moved to the Great Neck Social Center (80 Grace Avenue) just up the street a few blocks. To find out if the concert will be moved indoors, please contact Village Hall on the day of the concert, or call after hours, after 5 P.M., at (516) 482 - 4500 for a recorded message, and it will also be posted on our Village website, www.greatneckplaza.net.
