Kayak Club Kicks Off 2014 Season

The North Shore Kayak Club kicks off its 2014 paddling season with an organizational meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 22nd at 7:30 PM.  It will be held in the Local History Room, one flight up at the Port Washington Public Library.

Among the items presented at the meeting will be an overview of safe paddling practices, an instructional video and a description of the outings planned for the first six weeks of the 2014 kayaking season.  There will also be discussion of the community events that the club will participate in this year.

The North Shore Kayak Club, now in its eighth year, is a not-for-profit organization comprised of adults who are recreational flat-water paddlers (not white-water kayakers).  Paddlers of all skill levels are welcome.

Club members share a deep appreciation of our beautiful, local waterways, and the pleasure and camaraderie of paddling together.  The club runs trips every weekend from June through November, as well as outings on weekday evenings.  While the majority of club trips are within Nassau County, some take place in Suffolk, Westchester and Putnam Counties, too.  Annual dues are $10.00, which this year includes a safety whistle for each member.
