OPENING RECEPTION FOR NEW DISPLAY OF WORKS BY HISPANIC AMERICAN ARTISTS AT GOLD COAST ARTS CENTER
The exhibit features outstanding contemporary Hispanic-American artists and runs just in time to celebrate Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month

On Sunday September 14th from 4pm - 7pm, the Gold Coast Arts Center will host an opening reception for their new exhibition “Conexiones/Connections” which runs in their gallery through October 31st.
The exhibit features outstanding contemporary Hispanic-American artists and runs just in time to celebrate Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month in September, Admission is free and Refreshments will be served.
“This unique exhibition endeavors to enlighten, educate and engage our community through imagery that explores both historical and contemporary themes such as spirituality, anger, fear and sexuality present in these diverse cultures”, explains gallery curator Jude Amsel.
Artists represented in the exhibition are: Kalra Caprali, Miriam Costanza, Orestes Gonzales, Ignacio Plapietrapiana, Jorge Posada, Gilberto Ruiz and Daniel Valle. The exhibit was also curated by Orestes Gonzalez and includes an essay by Rafael DiazCasas, as well. These artists demonstrate the beauty of their culture through the brilliant use of color, materials and expression.
“The work of contemporary Latin American artists is remarkably diverse, Latin America consists of more than thirty countries, each with its own historical and cultural experiences”, Jude continued, “As many of these artists became part of the larger global network, the blending of cultures became an important characteristic. Art in the exhibition reflects the rich melting pot of these cultures present in the United States. Whether their families were originally from the Caribbean, Central or South America, this art presents a picture of the evolving nature of their national culture. Each artist seeks to challenge our idea of what is a global vision of Hispanic-American art”.
