Resident, Officer Hurt In North Hills Fire: Police
They were taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, Nassau police say.
NORTH HILLS, NY — Arson Squad detectives are investigating a North Hills fire that left two, including an officer, suffering from smoke inhalation on Saturday morning, Nassau police said.
Officers responded to a Hornbill Drive home for a fire at around 9:45 a.m., saw flames coming from the front door, and with help from the Manhasset Fire Department, were able to remove a resident through a window to safety, according to police.
The firefighters, along with help from several neighboring fire departments, were able to extinguish the fire, and one resident and one officer were taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, police said.

The county Fire Marshal's office also responded to the scene, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.

It was one of two fires in Nassau on Saturday in which people suffered smoke inhalation.
