The 92Y Resource Center for Jewish Diversity, in partnership with Jewish Women's Theatre (www.jewishwomenstheatre.org) presents the New York premiere of Saffron & Rosewater: Songs and Stories from Persian Jewish Women.
Saffron & Rosewater tells stories that would never see the light of day in Iran – a young woman’s determination to attend Barnard College nearly kills her father; a Jewish woman and a Muslim mullah seduce each other on a flight out of Iran; a Persian journalist discovers she has more in common with a Southern belle than she dares to admit; and a young girl rebels against the family tradition of being married off at thirteen.
The show features works by Persian powerhouse writers Gina Nahai, Angella Nazarian, Farideh Goldin, Esther Amini and Dora Levy Mossanen, who will be available for Q&A immediately following the performance.
Tickets: $29, $15 for 35 and under.
