VILLAGE EAST GIFTED AND TALENTED OPENS THREE NEW LOCATIONS ON LONG ISLAND WITH SEVERAL EXCITING PROGRAMS

(Huntington Station, Westbury, Great Neck, NY) -- In response to the growing demand for more gifted and talented programs for students from preschool through high school, Village East Gifted (VEG) has opened three new locations at 33 Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station, The Friends School on 550 Post Avenue in Westbury and a new location in Great Neck. VEG offers a Kindergarten Enrichment Program, Summer Enrichment Camp and year-round writing workshops.

Village East Gifted has over 280 students enrolled in its programs, which are designed to provide a stimulating learning environment facilitating creativity and intellectual growth.  VEG  uses its newly-trademarked Phillips RBM Approach to teaching accelerated curriculum in Advanced Latin, Early SAT Prep, Writing, Grammar and Syntax, Global Studies, Economics, Microbiology, Geography, Earth Science, Medicine, Law, Advanced Mathematics and Business.

The program encourages positive social interaction between its gifted students and acceptance of others whose skills and talents are different from their own.  In many instances, gifted students have difficulty conforming to the traditional ways of education.  Village East Gifted’s culture acknowledges the fact that gifted and talented students see the world differently because of their complex minds and unique depth of emotions.

“At Village East Gifted, we offer an extremely complex and highly creative curriculum. The VEG core curriculum covers all academic subjects that are presented up to five years above grade level. Many of  the first graders are reading the New York Times while their classmates in school are struggling with sight words," said Tobi Phillips, Ed. D. (cert.), Headmaster and Founder of Village East Gifted.  “Most important, all of our students have learned to love and respect the learning process. They always share how much they look forward to joining us every day. It doesn’t get any better than that."

DEMAND FOR EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT

VEG has developed and expanded a number of educational enrichment programs, beginning immediately:

  • A Kindergarten Enrichment Program, tailored to gifted and talented youngsters, in Huntington. Students can attend mornings or afternoons depending on their half day kindergarten programs.

  • Camp ThinkTank is offering an Extended Day Option for working parents. Students bring their bag lunch and engage in a "Mensa Meal" of brain games followed by a competition reinforcing advanced skills in writing, spelling, geography and foreign language.

  • New Sunday classes are forming at the Great Neck location for grades Nursery through SAT Prep.

Village East Gifted holds enrichment classes after school, evenings, weekends, over school vacations, throughout the summer and during the day for students who are home schooled. The programs are designed for students, ages 4 to 21.
