Firefighters were able to extinguish a barbecue fire that got out of control in Dix Hills on Saturday night.
According to fire officials, the fire scorched the outside of the Villanova Lane home at 6:40 p.m. The home’s exterior and the roof eaves at the rear of the home were damaged.
About 30 Dix Hills volunteer firefighters responded to the scene with four engines and two ambulances. The units were under the direction of assistant chiefs Tom Napolitano and Joe Williamson.
