Building Bridges to Unity

Chris Geed, public relations coordinator for the HHH school district said, "We have one of the most diverse school districts on Long Island. We probably have 60 different nationalities represented in Half Hollow Hills. And the Unity Fair, one of our longest-running events, which we've been holding for about 12 years now, is an event to celebrate all the cultures in our district."

All the schools' PTAs had a table set up with different foods and there were many performances to enjoy, including:

• a bagpipe performer
• Taiko drums of Japan
• HSE Indian fashion show
• Mariachi de Mexico
• Venettes Cultural Workshop
• Berta Gauto and Panambi Vera Paraguayan dancers
• Mulvihill-Lynch Irish step dancers
• Rik Kellerman Ten Tiger traditional Chinese lion dance/kung-fu exhibition

The Italian, Spanish and French clubs were on hand as well, as were the Friendship Circle, the Little People of America, the Mothers Club of Wheatley Heights and many more.
