Call for Artists: “Essential Water” Photography Exhibit at the Art League of Long Island

Long Island Photographers Are Invited to Submit Work for Juried Photography Exhibit

The Art League of Long Island invites artists from Suffolk, Nassau, Brooklyn, and Queens to submit entries to the upcoming juried photography competition “Essential Water” showing in their Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery May 13 through June 4, 2017. Deadline to submit applications is April 5.

Whether you are professional artist or a budding photographer, the Art League challenges you to let your camera capture water in any of its many forms. Water is the essence of life. It covers 71% of the Earth's surface and is vital for all known forms of life. We drink it, play in it, bathe in it, and wash our cars in it. Political disputes have centered around it. Storms have brought too much water and droughts have turned fields to dust. In some places, it's treasured and incredibly difficult to get. In others, it's incredibly easy to get and then squandered.

Exhibition Juror Dick Lopez is the founder of the Long Island Center of Photography and is a fine arts photographer, graphic designer, and business consultant. His work has been widely exhibited, recognized by such organizations as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, International Association of Business Communicators, Center of Photography at Woodstock and the Federal Design Council, and featured in Graphis, Print, and Art Direction.
