Car Crashes Through Front Entrance of Melville Store

The store's next door business also had a similar incident last June.

A car reportedly crashed through the front entrance of a Melville bagel store Saturday afternoon less than a year after an alleged drunken driver crashed into the store’s next door restaurant.

According to fire officials, the crash shattered two large windows and damaged the alcove area of Bagel Biz, located 443 Walt Whitman Road, at approximately 3:25 p.m.

Neither the driver nor the people in the store were injured from the crash.

In June, a West Babylon man was charged with DWI after he drove through the front window of Gourmet Wok, which is located next to Bagel Biz.

The Huntington Building Inspector was requested to check the building.

Melville firefighters were on the scene with an engine and ambulance, which were under the command of chief Jason Bernfeld and third assistant chief David Kaplan.
