Did you ever wish that someone could watch your toddler for an hour or two so that you could get some work done?
Or maybe you would like to sit on a couch, drink a cup of coffee and talk to other moms who are in a similar situation?
Now you can. Club Mom has come to Long Island. They are across Jericho Turnpike from West Hills Day Camp, in a strip mall with Zippity Doo's Cuts for Kids.
They not only provide free childcare for members, but you can take fitness classes, including zumba, pilates and yoga--and you can take as many classes a day as you'd like--for free, all included in your monthly membership.

There are also classes and workshops you can take (again, free with your membership). Or if you want, you can sit in the lounge, drink coffee, do some work (even just send out thank-you cards for all those baby gifts).
There are two memberships: for $39 a month, you can come every day, sit in the lounge, go to workshops or classes and the babysitting is free. For $79 a month, you get all that plus all the fitness classes you want to take.

Stacy Schwed, the owner of Club Mom, came up with the idea after having two kids and finding herself in an unhealthy marriage. When her youngest went off to school, she panicked.
"I had no idea what to do with myself," she said. "I had no idea who I was. I wanted to be a healthy parent." And as a social worker who specialized in anxiety, she knew how to pull herself out of it and start her life over.
But she wondered: "How many thousands of mothers are going through this right now and don't know what to do? I had the tools to help myself, and I still felt panicky. I could only imagine what other mothers were feeling. That was when I decided I wanted to help as many moms as I could."
At Club Mom, Schwed provides coaching for moms--helps them set goals and visions.
"And I know how important it is for moms to talk to other moms, for them to share and support each other," she said. "That's why I created the lounge area, so they can meet each other and share. It's really important."
Club Mom also has networking events for Mompreneurs, "mingling moms hour," "mom's night out," all kinds of things that moms need most.
There are also youth fitness classes and child and adolescent weight management, as well as story times and crafts.
Schwed said, "I wanted to create a community of moms who help and support each other."
And now it's here in the Town of Huntington for all of us.
