Cops: Fort Salonga Man, 23, Seriously Injured in Crash

The single-car crash occurred late Monday on Fort Salonga Road, police said.

A 23-year-old Fort Salonga man was seriously injured after he crashed into “multiple trees” in Fort Salonga late Monday, authorities said in a news release.

Suffolk police say Nicholas Libardi was driving west on Fort Salonga Road, west of Sunken Meadow Parkway, when he lost control of the vehicle. The car struck the trees on the eastbound side of the road and overturned at approximately 11:05 p.m.

Libardi was ejected from the car. He was was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries, police said.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
