Dix Hills Family Holds 5K Walk in Memory of Son Who Lost Opiate Addiction Battle

The first annual John Brower Jr. Foundation 5k Walk for the Outreach Center will be held Saturday.

A Dix Hills family has organized their first annual 5k fundraising walk on Saturday in memory of their son who lost his life to opiate addiction at the age of 25.

John and Jody Brower established The John Brower Jr. Foundation to bring a positive force for change out of their son’s passing.

They looks to raise awareness about opiate addiction and to help young adults overcome drug dependency.

The John Brower Jr. Foundation 5k Walk for the Outreach Center will be held at Jones Beach. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. For more information on the walk, go here. Register here.

The walk has already raised more than $4,500 for the foundation.

The foundation has joined efforts with The Outreach Center to help provide drug and alcohol abuse treatment services for those who do not have the means to help themselves.
