Dix Hills Fire Department Battles LIE Car Fire

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze Monday night.

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a blazing car fire Monday at about 10:35 p.m. on the Long Island Expressway in the westbound lanes near Commack Road–Exit 52.

Under the command of Chief Robert Fling, 20 volunteer firefighters and rescue personnel were dispatched with two trucks, an ambulance, first responder and paramedic units. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and there were no injuries reported.
