This year, the firefighters gathered to pray and remember Terry Farrell. First Assistant Chief Robert Fling welcomed the department and guests. Next, Ex-Chief and Commissioner Phil Tepe spoke about Farrell and his dedication as a firefighter in both Dix Hills and the FDNY. Department Chaplain Rabbi Howard Buechler reflected on 9/11 and offered a prayer in the memory of Farrell. Company Two Captain Brett Tepe read a speech that FDNY Chaplain Mychal Judge gave the day before 9/11 about the job of a firefighter.
After some quiet reflection, one by one, the firefighters placed flowers at Farrell’s grave and remembered his friendship and dedication as a firefighter.
