Dix Hills Teen Places Third at National Fencing Championships
William Jin will be a junior at Half Hollow Hills High School West in the fall.
A Dix Hills native took home the bronze medal during the division 3 men’s sabre at the Summer National Fencing Championships last Saturday in San Jose, California.
This was William Jin’s best fencing accomplishment to date. Jin, who will be a junior at High School West in the fall, has been fencing competitively for 2.5 years.
He trains at Island Fencing Academy in Plainview under the direction of Misha Shimshovich and Boris Khurgin.

Jin competed against 138 fencers in total for Div 3 Men’s Sabre. He was 19th after pools. His score for the 1st direct elimination round: 15-5, 2nd DE: 15-8, 3rd DE: 15-2, 4th DE: 15-5, 5th DE: 15-7 and then lost in the semi-finals with a score of 11-15 to J. Garrett Tordo of Framingham, MA.
