Dix Hills Woman Trapped Under Elevator

on Sunday afternoon freed a woman who was trapped beneath an elevator in her home on Candlewood Path North.

According to fire department officials, firefighters arriving on the scene found the unidentified woman pinned beneath the elevator located in the basement of her home. The woman was conscious and talking to rescuers, and was freed in about 20 minutes by Dix Hills firefighters using cribbing and hydraulic airbags. 

Technical Rescue Teams from the Commack and Huntington Manor Fire Departments, and Suffolk Police Emergency Services were requested for additional assistance in case they were needed. 

The woman was transported by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries. 

About 45 Dix Hills firefighters and EMS personnel responded with three heavy rescue trucks, three ambulances, and paramedic responder unit, under the direction of Chief Richard Granahan.
