Document Shredding Day

Bring your old papers stored in boxes, clear plastic or paper bags to the library parking lot at Dix Hills and watch as your sensitive documents are shredded in the mobile shredding unit. Shredded material will be delivered to a recycling center to be turned into future products. Public Note: Event is well attended. Please be courteous and limit your papers to personal documents. Please be prepared to carry and unload your own boxes and bags. Recommended Items: Bank Statements, Insurance Records, Canceled Checks, Medical Records, Tax Returns, Credit Card Receipts. Staples, rubber bands, folders, paper clips, etc do not need to be removed before shredding occurs. Prohibited Items: Plastic document covers, wet or moist paper that has beencontainated by flooding, hanging file folders with metal support bars, electronic media including computer disks or CDs, books, either hardcover or paper back, credit cards, magazines, catalogues and newspapers, film or photographs.
