DIX HILLS, NY — Ryan M. Miller, the newest Eagle Scout from Troop 409, was presented with a County Proclamation and a 16th Legislative District pin by Legislator Susan A. Berland at a Court of Honor, the Suffolk County Legislature office announced on Monday.

Miller spent many ours on his Eagle Project, in which he constructed park benches for a 9/11 memorial honoring local fallen firefighter Terry Farrell. His project included building a walkway around the memorial and renovating the area with decorative rocks, new grass and foliage. He accomplished all of this by organizing and raising funds through a car wash, obtaining donations from local businesses and managing the work to finalize the project.

"As the mother of an Eagle Scout, I know all of the hard work and dedication that goes into achieving the rank of Eagle and just how special this occasion is for Ryan and his family," said Berland said. "He should be incredibly proud of all of the work he has done for his community, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
