Fireplace Causes Fire in Greenlawn Home

The inside of the home caught fire Saturday night, fire officials said.

A fireplace caused the inside of a Greenlawn home to catch fire Saturday night, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the Clay Court home to find a fire in the walls, which was caused by the home’s fireplace, at 11:40 p.m.

About 30 Greenlawn firefighters responded to the scene. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which damaged the walls around the fireplace.

Firefighters responded with five trucks and an ambulance. Units were led by assistant chiefs Mike Bellis and Joe Costanza.

No injuries were reported. The Town of Huntington Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
