Gemini Youth Orchestra Performs at The Greens
It was their second annual concert to salute the veterans.
Gemini Youth Orchestra is the only Long Island youth orchestra headed by a full-time professional conductor as its principal conductor and music director. The group has played major concert venues such as Carnegie Hall (most recently in May 2004), Lincoln Center (2007 through 2010), Tilles Center and others.
For Veterans Day, the Winds--one of four groups in the GYO--performed a musical tribute to honor the men and women who served their country at the Greens at Half Hollow.
GYO is made up of the Gemini Youth Symphony, Gemini Concert Winds, Gemini Chamber Orchestra and the Gemini String Orchestra. Michael Adelson is the Music Director and Conductor for the Gemini Youth Symphony; Michael Canipe, Conductor, Gemini Concert Winds; James Uzzi, Conductor, Gemini Chamber Orchestra; and Andrew Perea, Conductor, Gemini String Orchestra.

GYO preparatory groups feature experienced and well-regarded conductors who help build technical skills, self-confidence, teamwork and love of music. The Gemini Youth Symphony, their "flagship," is where these skills are fine-tuned and students are prepared for their college careers and beyond.
In the words of Maestro Adelson, their goal is to produce high school graduates who are ready for conservatory training.
