Half Hollow Hills Appoints Diana Ketcham As New Assistant Superintendent Of Elementary Education

The Half Hollow Hills Central School District of Huntington and Babylon is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Diana Ketcham as its new assistant superintendent of elementary education. Ketcham will be leading the instructional and curriculum programs for children in the district from kindergarten through 5th grade.

“I am honored and privileged to join such a distinguished team of educators and dedicated families in the Half Hollow Hills School District,” said Ketcham. “Together we will continue to grow and enhance the outstanding teaching and learning that is occurring in our schools each and every day.”

Ms. Ketcham spent the past twenty-two years serving students and families at the elementary level. Prior to joining Half Hollow Hills, she served as the principal of Blue Point Elementary School in the Bayport-Blue Point School District for over a decade, before joining the Hicksville School District in 2017. During her tenure as a school administrator, Ketcham has successfully led a number of district-wide initiatives including the full implementation of a co-teaching program, character education workshops, a balanced literacy program and the infusion of new technology.

Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Ketcham was an elementary teacher of both general education and students with disabilities at Babylon Memorial Grade School in the Babylon School District. After earning her Bachelor's degree, she earned her Master's Degree and Administrative credentials from the State University at Stony Brook. Ketcham has also completed coursework at Columbia University Teachers' College and Harvard University Principals' Institute.

“We are excited to have Ms. Ketcham join our leadership team in Half Hollow Hills, and look forward to the fresh ideas and concepts she will bring to our elementary students, faculty and families,” said Dr. Patrick Harrigan, the superintendent of schools in Half Hollow Hills.

An education-oriented community with high academic expectations, the Half Hollow Hills Central School District is located in a residential area of 50,000 people in the central part of Long Island, approximately 40 miles from New York City. Providing for the education of more than 8,000 students, the school district has five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Half Hollow Hills High Schools are fully accredited by the New York State Department of Education and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The district is committed to providing all students with opportunities to excel in academics, athletics and the arts.
