High Schools Hold Workshops On College Admissions, Financial Aid

Recently, an interactive workshop entitled, ‘The Admission Game" was presented by Peter Van Buskirk, an international authority in the college-going process.

In this forum, Van Buskirk created a fictitious college and stats for four students.  The audience took on the role of College Admissions as the candidates were evaluated and reviewed based on selectivity, college fit, financial aid and special hooks, to determine acceptance or denial.

Also recently, parents attended "Financial Aid Night" hosted by Jacquelyn Nealon, Vice President for Enrollment, Communications and Marketing at New York Institute of Technology.

Nealon’s discussion focused on the bottom line—money. She explained the elements of a financial aid package, and how to navigate completion of the essential FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form.
