Hills Alums Playing in NCAA Lax Tournament

Former Colts and Thunderbirds ready to play for national title.

Half Hollow Hills will be well-represented in the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship taking place over the next two weeks.

Here's a look at who's involved:

  • John Rogener, Siena: Rogener, a Hills West grad, is a senior captain at Siena, which has the unfortunate task of playing top-seeded Syracuse in the first round. The midfielder is fourth on the team in scoring this season, with 19 goals and nine assists. Rogener, an education major at Siena, was team MVP and an all-county selection for lacrosse his junior and senior years at West.

  • John Conneely, Penn: Conneely, Hills West's all-time leading scorer, is a junior attack at the Ivy League school. He is third on the team in scoring this season, with 12 goals and seven assists. He was named a US Lacrosse All-American his senior year at West. Conneely and Penn are playing No. 4 Notre Dame.

  • Maxx Meyer, Penn: Meyer, a 2010 Hills East grad, joins Conneely on the field for the Quakers. The freshman defenseman has three goals and one assist on the season. He was named a US Lacrosse All-American last year at East. 

  • Nick Frigenti, Hartford: Frigenti, a Hills East alum, is a senior captain for the Hawks. The midfielder was an an America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection in 2010. He played four years of varsity lacrosse and soccer at East. Unseeded Hartford plays No. 2 Cornell in the first round.

  • John Walker, Virginia: Walker, a Hills West grad, is an assistant coach for the No. 7 seed Cavaliers. Walker was a three-time All-American attackman at the United States Military Academy (Army) and finished as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 209 points. UVA plays Bucknell in the first round.
