Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested After Seriously Injuring Bicyclist in Dix Hills: Police
The incident occurred Saturday morning.
A hit-and-run driver was arrested after he seriously hurt a bicyclist Saturday morning in Dix Hills, police say.
According to authorities, Raynard Dashiell, 54, of Dix Hills, was driving a 2011 Honda Ridgeline westbound on LIE Service Road North near Half Hollow Road when the vehicle struck a man riding a bicycle at 9:12 a.m.
Dashiell fled the scene and his vehicle became disabled about a quarter mile west of the crash, where he was then located by police officers, police say.

The bicyclist, a 58-year-old Muttontown man, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by Dix Hills Rescue for treatment of serious injuries.
Dashiell was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury. He was arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip and released on $20,000 bond. He is due back in court on Sept. 16.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
