Hundreds Attend Melville FD Annual Open House

Those who attended got to see actual firefighting and rescue demonstrations by Melville's volunteer firefighters.

Several hundred visitors learned about fire prevention and safety at the Melville Fire Department’s annual Open House last month.

Those who attended the event, held at fire headquarters on Sweet Hollow Road on Oct. 16, got to see actual firefighting and rescue demonstrations by Melville's volunteer firefighters.

  • Free raffles and prizes for smoke alarms and fire extinguishers
  • Snacks served by the Junior Explorers
  • An inflatable bounce house for the kids

The Suffolk County Volunteer Firefighters Burn Center and the Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy Dogs also participated on the Open House.

"The Open House is a great opportunity for our residents to learn about our Department, and provide them with an educational and enjoyable experience," Chief Jason Bernfeld said.
