Hundreds Attend Melville FD Open House

Community members flocked to the annual Melville Fire Department Open House event.

HALF HOLLOW HILLS, NY - From the Melville Fire Department: The Melville Fire Department recently held their annual Open House at fire headquarters on Sweet Hollow Road. The event brought several hundred visitors that learned about fire prevention and safety, and got to see actual firefighting and rescue demonstrations by Melville's bravest. There were free raffles and prizes for smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, snacks served by the Junior Explorers, and an inflatable bounce house for the kids. Special thanks to the Suffolk County Volunteer Firefighters Burn Center and Love on a Leash Therapy Dogs for their participation. "The Open House is a great opportunity for our residents to learn about our Department, and provide them with an educational and enjoyable experience," said Chief Jason Bernfeld.
