Lawrence Perlman, The Last Layer   (2010)

Senior Inspector Gerard de Rochenoir of the elite French National Police is attempting to solve two jewelry robberies when one of the victims is murdered.  He meets Catherine York, an American insurance executive, who is also investigating both robberies and they travel around the world to solve these crimes.

Zoe Sharp, Fourth Day:  A Charlie Fox Thriller   (2011)

Charlotte Foxcroft is a member of the elite Armstrong-Meyers private security firm.  She must infiltrate the cult, Fourth Day, to rescue schoolteacher Thomas Whitney.  Thomas infiltrated the cult five years earlier because he believed that the cult’s charismatic leader was responsible for his son’s death.  This is the eighth installment in the series, not all have yet been published in the U.S.

P.G. Sturges, Shortcut Man:  A Novel   (2011)

Dick Henry is known as the “Shortcut Man.”  When people need a fast, discreet solution to a problem, Henry is the man to go to, even though his methods are unorthodox or not always legal.  When he is hired to investigate claims of a cheating wife, it turns out that he is the person she is having an affair with.  Henry tries to deceive the client but when he asks for more information, Henry must use all his shortcuts to keep stay alive.

Author of  A Stain on the Silence and Bleeding Heart Square and winner of CWA’s Cartier Diamond Dagger 2009. In this historical mystery , set in England in 1786, London bookseller John Holdsworth’s son dies in a tragic accident and his wife commits suicide.  He accepts an assignment from Lady Anne Oldershaw to prove to her son, who claims to have seen a ghost, that he is suffering from a delusion.

Tina Whittle, The Dangerous Edge of Things:  a Tai Randolph Mystery (2011)


Debut novel features Tai Randolph, the new owner of a gun shop.  When a body is found on her brother’s driveway,  and her sibling is in the Bahamas, she must deal with the questions from the Atlanta police department.  Death threats and another murder force her to become partners with a very dangerous man.
