Man Accidentally Fires Gun While Driving In Melville: Police

The 62-year-old shot himself in the leg while driving, police say.

MELVILLE, NY - An Islip Terrace man accidentally shot himself in the leg while driving in Melville on Wednesday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.

The 62-year-old man shot himself while adjusting a gun in his waistband while driving northbound on Route 110 at Spagnoli Road at about 2:05 p.m.

The man, who has a gun permit, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
