Man Convicted Of 'Viciously' Stabbing Elderly Uncle To Death: NCDA
The man was stabbed 16 times in his home in late 2018, police say.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — A Dix Hills man was found guilty of fatally stabbing his elderly uncle in late 2018, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said Friday.
David Cahoon, 44, was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder, second-degree possession of a forged instrument, and fourth-degree grand larceny. Cahoon's sentence is scheduled for July 7, when he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
"William Cahoon was a regular at the Milleridge Inn, and when he stopped coming into the restaurant for several weeks, staff knew something was wrong," Donnelly said in a news release. "A wellness check revealed that William had been viciously stabbed repeatedly by his nephew, the defendant, who had also stolen $1,800 from the man. David Cahoon’s greed gave way to extreme violence and now he will spend decades in prison paying for the life he took."

The body of William Cahoon, 70, was found in a back bedroom of his Levittown home on Jan. 4, 2019, by Nassau police, officials said. He had been stabbed 16 times in his head, neck and chest, prosecutors said.
Staff of the Milleridge Inn asked officers to check on William Cahoon, who had dinner there every Friday and Saturday for 25 years, the DA said. Restaurant staff became concerned about his wellbeing after he didn’t show up for roughly a month, authorities said.
