Melville FD To Hold Open House This Weekend

The community is invited to attend the Melville Fire Department’s Open House on Sunday, Oct. 8

The Open House will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Melville Fire Headquarters, located at 531 Sweet Hollow Road and Walt Whitman Road.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

• Watch live demonstrations, including how firefighters use the “Jaws of Life” tools to rescue people from car accidents.
• Watch EMTs treat and remove a simulated victim from a car crash.
• Learn fire prevention information.
• Participate in giveaways and raffles for smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers.
• Have kids practice getting out of a house in case of fire in the Fire Safety House as well as enjoy an inflatable bounce house.
• Get free blood pressure screenings.
• Get information on becoming an Explorer (ages 14 to 17) or a Volunteer (age 18 and above).
• Enjoy free refreshments and snacks.
