Following a recent mutual aid response for a house fire involving the rescue of a large number of various species of animals, the department wanted to further its' knowledge in how to provide effective treatment of injured pets.

Taught by a 25+ year veteran ALS (Advanced Life Support) provider and educator from Paws N Claws 911, Melville fire rescue volunteers were instructed in emergency muzzling, vital signs assessment, CPR for all size dogs and cats, choking management and other medical emergencies using simulated animals of all sizes.
