Mixed Results for Harris and Tennessee

Dix Hills native experiences first collegiate loss, and sub-par performance this past week.

A good performance in defeat, and a poor one in victory. So goes the basketball life of Tobias Harris.

The Dix Hills native had a solid game Tuesday night, but it was not enough as previously unbeaten and seventh-ranked University of Tennessee was stunned by non-ranked Oakland (Michigan) University. Harris scored 16 points and gathered in six rebounds in the 89 – 82 loss. The Volunteers fell to 7-1, while the Golden Grizzlies improved to 6-5.

The freshman from Hills West High School was coming off the worst performance of his young college career. Last Saturday, in a matchup of two unbeaten and top-ranked teams, Harris scored just seven points on 2-for-8 shooting in 25 minutes as Tennessee defeated Pittsburgh 83 – 76. He did lead his Volunteers with seven rebounds.
