Mother, Son Hurt In Melville Crash

BREAKING: The car struck a utility pole on Sunday night.

A mother and son were hospitalized after their car struck a utility pole in Melville on Sunday night.

According to fire officials, the woman and her teenage son were involved in the crash on Bagatelle Road near Sorrel Hill Court at 5:40 p.m.

The passengers were transported to Nassau University Medical Center by the Melville Rescue Squad to be treated for head injuries.

The Melville Fire Department responded to the scene with about 20 firefighters and emergency medical personnel. An engine, heavy rescue truck, two ambulances, fire police and a paramedic unit also responded to the scene. All units were under the direction of Assistant Chiefs David Kaplan and Bill Schmitt.
