The teams involved were the Reds and the Nationals. The Nats won 6-1 because of the fine performance of two Nationals pitchers who worked three innings each and together hurled a no-hitter, an accomplishment to be proud of at any level of baseball.
The game was closer than the score would indicate. The Reds played well both in the field and at the plate. They hit several balls extremely well but thanks to some sparkling defensive plays by the Nats, their number of runs and hits were held in check. The Reds were tough opponents.

On the other side, the Nationals can be very proud of their play both offensively and defensively. At the plate several Nats came thru with timely clutch hits and their all around hustle was obvious, base running included.
The best part is, all the Nationals players contributed to the victory.
The Nationals played well, but so did the Reds who carried themselves as worthy competitors. Tuesday evening just happened to be the Nationals night. Already everyone is looking forward to their re-match on Sunday, May 22 at 5 p.m. on Field 9.
