Officials: Candlewood Middle School Student Brought Shotgun Shells to School

The student did not make threats, or bring a firearm to school, authorities said.

A student at Half Hollow Hills’ Candlewood Middle School brought shotgun shells to school Wednesday, authorities said.

School officials learned about the ammunition from a student who informed them.

There were no threatening statements made and the student was not in possession of a firearm, school officials said, in an email that went out to parents about the incident. In the email, school officials said

The building administration conducted an immediate investigation, contacted the Suffolk County Police Department and the appropriate disciplinary measures have been implemented. The building investigation has concluded and the matter has been turned over to the police.

Suffolk police said they were contacted, but said school officials had not filed a report.
