Plainview Man Sent Sexually Explicit Photos to Teen Boy: Police

The 36-year-old man was arrested Monday, police said.

A 36-year-old Plainview man was arrested Monday morning for promoting a sexual performance of a child after police said he sent sexually explicit pictures to a 13-year-old boy.

According to authorities, Yobani Diaz met the boy on a Facebook “buy and trade” site in 2014, which let them to meet at mutually agreed upon locations to exchange sneakers over the course of a year.

As the relationship developed, police said Diaz began to send sexually explicit pictures to the boy through Facebook messenger and asked the boy to send pictures and videos of himself as well.

The boy told a parent about Diaz and she subsequently contacted police. Diaz was located Monday at 10:15 a.m. and was placed under arrest.

He was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, possessing a sexual performance by a child, two counts of disseminating indecent material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.

He will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
