at 5 Seaman Neck road , sitting quietly next to the Paumanok Elementary
School.
As home to the *Half Hollow Historical Association, *the *Lower Schoolhouse*has always sparked interest and curiosity.
In June of 2011 we were
happy to receive a historical marker from the town of Huntington that
stands proudly out front.
Sadly the schoolhouse which is privately owned is presently on the market. The owners are hoping to sell this property as soon as possible.
The Town of Huntington is looking at making the purchase but they are concerned that there is not enough public interest to support that plan.
If the town does not buy this precious parcel then not only
would the *Half Hollow Historical Association* lose their home, but the *Lower
Schoolhouse* would cease to exist, as we now know it.
Please we beg you ...Do not allow the *Lower* *Half Hollow Schoolhouse* to fall prey to a lack of interest, and be lost forever.
Help save a very important part of our past and our identity.
Please encourage the Town of Huntington to acquire this property to preserve a very important historic structure. We the members of this small historical association need the help of our friends , neighbors, alumni and anyone that knows the importance of keeping our history alive.Half Hollow Hills was named as such for the hills located halfway between the
Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean .From a simple start we grew to be so much more than the place of beautiful homes Please join us in our quest, we need members, donations, and an overall public interest in our exceptional community.
Take pride in knowing you can make a difference.
We need your help !
