Police: Drunk Dix Hills Woman Crashed Car With Her 3-Year-Old Son Inside
The woman was arrested following a crash in Wheatley Heights Saturday evening.

A Dix Hills woman faces a felony DWI charge after she crashed her Mercedes with her 3-year-old son inside her car Saturday evening, police said.
According to police, 38-year-old Cristi Rivas was was driving a 2007 Mercedes Benz GL450 south on Straight Path when her vehicle rear-ended a 2013 Honda Odyssey near Burrs Lane in Wheatley Heights at about 6 p.m.
Rivas and the Honda driver, 63-year-old Khizar Kharam, were both transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries.

Rivas’s son was taken to Good Samaritan for evaluation but did not appear injured, police said. He was released to a family member.
Rivas was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15 years old or younger–a felony under Leandra’s Law)–DWI and endangering the welfare of a child. She was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
