Police: Melville Man Arrested at Car Accident Scene in Huntington Station

The man is accused of crossing police tape to take photos of the scene.

Two people were hurt when a motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck in Huntington Station Sunday morning and police say a family member of the truck driver was arrested for repeatedly crossing police to take photos of the accident scene.

According to police, 53-year-old Ricardo Rivas, of Huntington Station, was riding a 2002 BMW southbound on Oakwood Road when his motorcycle was struck by a northbound 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by 49-year-old Michael Fiordalisi, that was attempting to turn left at the intersection of West 22nd Street at about 9:25 a.m.

Rivas was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. Fiordalisi, of Huntington, was transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

During the course of the crash investigation, police said 48-year-old Jeffrey Krieger, a family member of Fiordalisi, was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. on a charge of second degree obstructing governmental administration for repeatedly crossing police tape in an attempt to take photographs of the scene.

Krieger, of Melville, was released on bail and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 23.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
