Police: Single-Car Crash in Dix Hills Seriously Injures 18-Year-Old Woman

The woman was sitting in the backseat when the vehicle crashed into a tree Monday morning, police said.

An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured in a single-car crash in Dix Hills early Monday morning, police said.

According to authorities, a Johnathan Minino-Montilla, 23, of Deer Park, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree when he was driving westbound on Vanderbilt Motor Parkway, a quarter mile west of Village Hill Drive, at 1:15 a.m.

Jeydi Ramirez, of North Babylon, was sitting in the backseat of the car and suffered serious injuries from the crash, police said. She was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.

Minino-Montilla and three other passengers were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where they were treated and released.

About 25 volunteer Dix Hills firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to the crash with two heavy rescue trucks and four ambulances. The units were under the command of Chief Robert Fling and Third Assistant Chief Joe Williamson.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the crash. Anyone with information can call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
