Q&A: HS West Salutatorian Dean Fulgoni

A Patch chat with Dean Fulgoni, who is headed to the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.

Dean Fulgoni is the salutatorian of the High School West Class of 2013. 

Fulgoni will attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall. He plans to major in Network and Social Systems Engineering (known as the “NETS” program).

1. What will you miss most about high school?

I will miss the friends that I do not spend time with outside of school. 

2. What was your favorite high school class?

Music Theory II

3. What clubs or extra-curricular activities were you involved in?

Jazz Band, Pit Band, Guitar Lessons, President of Tri-M Music Honor Society, Site Based Management Team, JV Volleyball

4. What advice would you give to underclassmen?

Put work into school and establish good habits for thinking and problem solving.

5. Any teachers/staff who stood out throughout your journey?

Mr. Bartolotta, Mr. Caligiuri, Mrs. Davidson, Mr. Foti, Mrs. O’Grady

6. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself in an engineering company such as Google or Facebook, trying to figure out how to make systems more creative or efficient.

7. What are you looking forward to in moving on to college?

The incredibly brilliant and passionate people I will meet.

8. Tell us a fun fact about you.

Throughout my high school career (until middle of senior year), the thought of being the top 1 or 2 of my class never crossed my mind.
